Dring drrring

Delightful cycling through Flanders, including people with disabilities.

Tandem

The VVV (Tourist Office) in Hamme has two wheelchair bikes.  And there are also tandems for cyclists with a visual impairment.  Both the wheelchair bikes and the tandems can be used free of charge.  For more info: VVV, Marktplein 1, Hamme, tel. 052 47 56 05.

The province of West Flanders not only hires out ordinary bikes, but also tandems, three-wheelers and a “Rollfiets”, which is a bike combined with a wheelchair.  The Rollfiets consists of a sturdy bike with 7 speeds and a stable, comfortable wheelchair.  Bike and wheelchair can be easily hitched or unhitched, so that the wheelchair can also move independently.  The Rollfiets fits into a large car (people carrier or estate car).

The hire rates are the same as for all the province's cycles:

6 EUR per day per cycle, 3 EUR for half a day.

For a week (4-7 days) it costs 20 EUR.

Transport to a provincial hire centre costs 25 EUR, while the fixed price for transport to a private address is 62 EUR.
